The song “24K Magic” has been described by Bruno himself as “the invitation to the party” and is the perfect opener for the album. The braggadocios song has a funky beat with a modern twist and is sure to make listeners want to dance.
Bruno sings about the kind of woman he is attracted to on the song “Chunky.” He’s looking for a naughty girl with her big hoops and daisy dukes. While the physical is important, she has to be independent and up for some fun.
Bruno really showcases his vocals on the song “That’s What I Like” where he wants to spoil his lady and give her everything she deserves such as shopping sprees in Paris, 24K jewelry, and strawberry champagne on ice.
“Versace on the Floor” is reminiscent to a Quincy Jones production and almost has a Michael Jackson feel to it. Bruno sings about his woman and how he wants her dress on the floor as they make love.
An attractive lady catches Bruno’s eyes and he knows exactly what’s on her mind and he wants them to have some fun together. The song “Straight Up & Down” was also co-written by T-Pain.
On “Calling All My Lovelies,” all of Bruno’s love needs a home and he has his mind set on spending the night with one lady in particular but he refuses to be on hold for her because he has too many women jumping at the chance to be with him. He won’t wait around too long and if he can’t get a hold of the lady he wants, he will move on to the next. The song hilariously includes Bruno calling this special lady and reaching a voicemail that says “Hi, you’ve reached Halle Berry.”
Bruno and his lady are dripping in “Finesse” and he wants to show her off. He knows they look good and can turn heads when they are together. The song gives off Bobby Brown/New Edition vibes.
He wants to start a failed relationship over again to show his lady that he does appreciate and love her. He doesn’t want their chapter to end and he realizes that things are “Too Good to Say Goodbye.”
The thing I absolutely love about Bruno Mars is that he isn’t afraid to go against the norm. He doesn’t care what may be popular in the mainstream, he sticks to his sound and it works for him every single time. He already had two multiplatinum albums under his belt and 24K Magic is sure to follow in those same footsteps. While the album is short at just over 30 minutes, it is amazing from start to finish.
Bruno Mars will embark on the “24K Magic World Tour” which is scheduled to start on March 28, 2017 in Antwerp and conclude on November 29, 2017 in San Juan.
