Those who have intently followed his musical journey know that Trey Songz is no stranger to the mixtape world. In fact, To Whom it May Concern is his eighth mixtape release since 2004 and it gives listeners everything they expect and more from Trigga.
Over the years we have experienced two sides to Trey. There’s the lover and there’s the freak. This mixtape effectively captures both.
It wouldn’t be a Trey Songz album if he didn’t get a little nasty. He promises his latest conquest that her “Walls” won’t forget him. After he takes her out to eat some “Waffles & Eggs” he plans to take her back to his place and they won’t even make it to the bed. In fact, she can invite her friends if she wants because he wants the whole “Crew.”
Trigga has admitted that this mixtape is “darker” than his previous releases. On the song “Painkillers” he admits that he has a lot on his mind and his vices are the only things that keep him calm.
On the song “Prayers” he addresses how he prays every night before he goes to sleep that he sees another day and how he fears that he may be gunned down by the police. With the stories frequenting the news regarding black lives and police, it isn’t surprising that he feels that way.
There isn’t any current talk about the release of his next album but it is nice that he continues to gratify his fans with constant new music.
